The Objective

Our client is a home décor and seasonal services retailer operating across multiple locations in the United States.

The primary objective was to consolidate a fragmented website structure by migrating multiple subdomains into a single, authoritative domain. This was critical to strengthening overall site authority, improving crawl efficiency, and creating a more consistent user experience.

Alongside consolidation, the client wanted to maximize visibility, traffic, and revenue during peak seasonal periods, with a particular focus on their most commercially important offering: Christmas.

The Challenge

The following issues limited the client’s ability to capture traffic, authority, and conversions during peak seasonal periods:

  1. Fragmented site architecture: The website was spread across multiple subdomains, which diluted authority and made it harder for search engines to understand the overall structure.
  2. Duplicate and inconsistent location content: Many location pages contained duplicate or thin content, preventing them from ranking to their potential and confusing both users and search engines.
  3. Underdeveloped service and local pages: Core service pages and priority local pages lacked depth, clear messaging, and internal linking, reducing visibility and conversion potential for high-intent searches.
  4. Seasonal money pages lacked authority: The client’s key seasonal offerings did not have dedicated content or link building strategies in place, limiting their ability to rank and capture traffic during peak demand.

The Approach

Our team implemented a strategy designed to consolidate the website, optimize high-value service and seasonal pages, and improve visibility and conversions during peak demand periods.

  • Site Consolidation & Technical SEO

    Domain consolidation: We unified multiple subdomains into a single authoritative root domain, transferring content and resolving technical dependencies.

    Navigation & internal linking: We rebuilt the website’s navigation to create a coherent structure, making it easier for users and web crawlers to discover key pages.

    Sitemaps & robots.txt: New XML sitemaps were created, and robots.txt was updated to prioritize valuable pages and reduce wasted crawl budget.

  • Content Pruning & Performance Improvements

    Old content removal: Zero-traffic or outdated blog posts were pruned to save crawl budget and focus search engine attention on high-value pages.

    Performance optimization: Broken links, redirects, and duplicate content were addressed, improving crawl efficiency and overall site performance.

  • Service & Local Page Optimization

    Service pages: Core service pages were rewritten and expanded with detailed descriptions, clear messaging, and improved calls-to-action to increase conversion potential.

    Local pages: Priority local pages were created for key markets, with consistent structure and localized content to boost relevance in local search.

  • Seasonal Page Strategy

    Seasonal landing pages: A dedicated seasonal landing page was created with targeted copy and visuals to drive traffic during the peak festive season.

    Supporting content: Seasonal blog posts were developed to complement the landing page, capturing long-tail seasonal queries and improving engagement.

    Link-building & authority signals: These high-value pages were supported with internal and external link strategies to establish authority and maximize rankings for high-intent seasonal search phrases.
