The Objective

Housing.com is one of India’s leading property portals, with listings spanning cities and regions across the country. The business relied heavily on organic search for growth, but its most commercially valuable pages (the city- and region-specific landing pages targeting high-value rental keywords) were failing to rank to their potential.

The goal was to boost organic traffic volumes by getting these location-specific landing pages to rank for the high-value keywords that drive qualified, high-intent search traffic: the users actively looking for rental property in a particular city or area.

The Challenge

Several factors were holding the site’s location pages back from ranking and limiting its ability to compete in a crowded market:

  1. Buried, messy site structure: a technical audit revealed major configuration issues. Many important pages were buried deep within a disorganised architecture, making them difficult for both users and search engines to reach.
  2. Poor crawlability and discoverability: because key content sat so far from the homepage, Google struggled to crawl, understand, and rank it, leaving valuable landing pages effectively invisible in search.
  3. Weak authority baseline: the site had a thin backlink profile relative to established competitors, limiting its ability to rank for high-value, competitive rental terms at city and regional level.
  4. A highly competitive market: ranking location pages across many cities and regions meant competing on numerous fronts at once, each requiring both technical health and demonstrable authority to win.

The Approach

SUSO delivered a two-part strategy that first fixed the site’s technical foundations, then built the authority its key pages needed to rank competitively.

  • Improving Site Structure

    Technical SEO audit: we ran a comprehensive technical SEO audit that surfaced major configuration issues and identified the pages buried deepest in the site’s structure.

    Streamlined architecture: we restructured the site architecture and URL structure, moving key content closer to the homepage and flattening the paths to the client’s most important landing pages.

    Surfacing buried content: this brought previously hidden content to the surface, directly improving Google’s ability to crawl, understand, and rank the client’s pages.

  • Building Authority With Backlinks

    Targeted link-building: we launched a targeted link-building campaign designed both to raise the domain’s overall authority and to boost the specific pages targeting property rentals in particular cities and locations.

    Consistent monthly output: we built new high-quality backlinks every month, focused on the specific pages we were working to rank.

    Quality at scale: over the course of the camoaign, we secured more than 140 safe, reliable backlinks from quality publishers, pointing to pages across the site with an emphasis on those priority location pages.
